The Deutscher Wetterdienst (DWD) is a public institution with partial legal capacity under the Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport (BMDV). As such, it is committed to making the website dwdbib.dwd.de accessible in accordance with the German Act on Equal Opportunities for Persons with Disabilities (BGG), the German Ordinance on Accessible Information Technology (BITV 2.0) and the harmonized European standard EN 301 549 in their most recent version.
Status of compatibility with requirements
The website dwdbib.dwd.de has not been subjected to an accessibility test, the statements below rely on self-assessment by us. The web pages are widely compliant with the harmonized European standard EN 301 549 V2.1.2 (08-2018).

The following exemptions apply as per Section 2 BITV 2.0 in conjunction with Article 1 (4) of the EU Directive 2016/2102:
- Third-party content and documents (such as offered by ministries and other institutions) that are outside our control and are not funded or developed by the DWD.
The following components of the website and navigation do not fully comply with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1:
- Not all elements and functionalities are operable through a keyboard interface and therefore do not meet the Success Criterion 2.1.1 Keyboard.
- Not all the abbreviations meet the Success Criterion 3.1.4. Level AAA, but largely comply with Success Criterion 3.1.2. Language of Parts Level AA.
The following contents are not or only partially accessible (ongoing plans to improve the accessibility of our website will be implemented gradually):
- Files that have been published for download before 23 September 2018 and are not required for current administrative practice and legal operations.
- Preference is given to the availability of accessible PDF documents. In particular rules and regulations are available in accessible formats, as well as recent brochures; the corresponding files are flagged as accessible or partially compliant with accessibility regulations. Some PDF documents have been scanned using OCR technology but do not meet PDF/UA standards for technical reasons. Arbitration procedure
Pursuant to Section 16 BGG, an Arbitration Service has been set up and is operated by the Federal Government Commissioner for Matters relating to Persons with Disabilities. The Arbitration Service has the task to mediate conflicts between persons with disabilities and federal public administration regarding accessibility.
You can use the Arbitration Service if you are not satisfied with the response to a problem reported by you via the above contact channel. It is not a question of winning or losing a dispute but of resolving the problem in cooperation with the Arbitration Service and out of court.
The arbitration procedure is free of charge and you do not have to involve a lawyer as legal counsel either.
